You’re ready to start investing, so you do what most people do. You search for stock brokerage firms in Bangalore, compare a few names, and look at the brokerage charges. One broker says ₹0. Another says ₹20. Another has a yearly plan. At first, the choice seems pretty simple.
Then you look a little closer.
There’s AMC, DP charges, STT, GST and other costs that don’t show up in that big “₹0 brokerage” number. And there’s another question: does it actually matter if the broker is based in Bangalore, or just has a branch here?
That’s where comparing brokers gets tricky. In this guide, we’ll look at the actual charges, Bangalore connection, ₹1 lakh trade costs, discount vs full-service brokers, and what you should check before opening an account.
Stock Brokerage Firms in Bangalore at a Glance
If you’re comparing share market brokers in Bangalore, there’s one thing worth clearing up first: a broker headquartered in Bengaluru isn’t necessarily the same as a national broker that simply has a branch here.

What Are The Bangalore-Based Stock Brokerage Firms?
There are plenty of trading companies in Bangalore, but a local office alone doesn’t tell you what kind of broker you’re dealing with. The important part is whether the firm is actually headquartered here and what services it provides. If you’re still learning how the market works, stock exchange learning can also help you understand the role of exchanges before choosing a broker.
Zerodha
Headquartered at J.P Nagar 4th Phase, Bengaluru, and India’s largest broker by active client count. Equity delivery is fully free. Intraday and futures cost ₹20 or 0.03% per order, whichever is lower; options are a flat ₹20. AMC is waived for year one on resident individual accounts, then ₹300 + 18% GST/year on non-BSDA accounts (₹0 if your holdings stay under ₹4 lakh under a Basic Services Demat Account). Every figure here comes straight from Zerodha’s own charges page.
Groww
Headquartered in Bellandur, Bengaluru. Started as a mutual-fund app and now covers stocks, F&O and IPOs from the same account. Account opening and AMC are both ₹0, confirmed on Groww’s official pricing page. Equity brokerage (delivery and intraday) is ₹20 or 0.1% per order, whichever is lower, with a ₹5 minimum.
FYERS
Also Bengaluru-headquartered. Traders who want charting depth and API/algo access tend to gravitate here, that’s the platform’s clearest differentiator, based on the tools it ships rather than a ranking claim. Equity delivery investments cost ₹20 or 0.3% per order (whichever is lower), intraday and futures cost ₹20 or 0.03% per order, and there’s no AMC, per the broker’s own charges list.
Alice Blue
Running since 2006, relocated headquarters to Bengaluru in 2017. Publishes zero-brokerage equity delivery and flat-rate pricing on other segments. AMC figures have varied across public sources for this broker, check Alice Blue’s own pricing page before relying on a number.
Tradejini
Keeps both its registered and corporate offices in Bengaluru, genuinely the most locally rooted of the five. Intraday and futures run ₹20 or a small percentage of turnover, whichever is lower, per the broker’s published rate card. Confirm current AMC directly on Tradejini’s site since public trackers disagree on the exact figure.
What Are The Best Stock Brokers With a Presence in Bangalore?
- Angel One revised its pricing in November 2025: equity delivery now runs ₹20 or 0.1% per order (minimum ₹5), intraday and F&O are a flat ₹20, and non-BSDA AMC is ₹60 + GST per quarter, charged after your first trade each quarter, all confirmed on Angel One’s pricing page. The broker maintains a branch and authorised-partner network across Bangalore.
- Upstox charges ₹20 flat per order on delivery, and ₹20 or 0.1% on intraday, whichever is lower, per Upstox’s own charges list. AMC is waived the first year, then roughly ₹75 + GST per quarter for non-BSDA accounts.
- ICICI Direct runs on a plan-based structure rather than one flat rate. Its Prime plans (₹299 to ₹9,999 annual subscription) bring delivery brokerage down from roughly 0.27% to as low as 0.07%, depending on which plan you pick, per ICICI Direct’s own Prime plan page. Its default I-Secure plan runs higher.
- HDFC Securities, Motilal Oswal and Sharekhan round out the full-service group, all with branches in Bangalore, research desks, relationship managers, and percentage-based brokerage that we’d recommend confirming on each broker’s own tariff sheet before committing, since public sources for these three aren’t fully consistent right now.
What Does a ₹1 Lakh Trade Actually Cost? (Our Own Working, Four Brokers)
“Zero brokerage” gets repeated everywhere without anyone showing what a trade actually costs once STT, exchange fees, GST, stamp duty and DP charges are added in. We built this ourselves, using each broker’s own published rates, rather than quoting a third-party calculator.
Assumptions: ₹1,00,000 buy, later sold at the same ₹1,00,000 (no gain/loss, so the numbers isolate pure transaction cost), standard resident individual account, non-BSDA. All charges rounded to the nearest rupee.
Delivery (buy + later sell, round trip)
This is where equity delivery brokerage needs a closer look. The brokerage itself is only one part of what you pay when you buy and eventually sell shares.
Broker | Brokerage | STT | Exchange + SEBI | GST | Stamp duty | DP charge | Total cost |
Zerodha | ₹0 | ₹200 | ₹6 | ₹1 | ₹15 | ₹15 | ≈ ₹238 |
Groww | ₹40 | ₹200 | ₹6 | ₹8 | ₹15 | ₹20+GST | ≈ ₹289 |
Angel One | ₹40 | ₹200 | ₹6 | ₹8 | ₹15 | ₹20+GST (approx.) | ≈ ₹293 |
Upstox | ₹40 | ₹200 | ₹6 | ₹8 | ₹15 | ₹18.5+GST | ≈ ₹291 |
Intraday (₹1 lakh buy, ₹1 lakh sell, same day)
Broker | Brokerage | STT | Exchange + SEBI | GST | Stamp duty | Total cost |
Zerodha | ₹40 | ₹25 | ₹6 | ₹8 | ₹3 | ≈ ₹82 |
Groww | ₹40 | ₹25 | ₹6 | ₹8 | ₹3 | ≈ ₹82 |
Angel One | ₹40 | ₹25 | ₹6 | ₹8 | ₹3 | ≈ ₹82 |
Upstox | ₹40 | ₹25 | ₹6 | ₹8 | ₹3 | ≈ ₹82 |
The genuinely useful finding here: on intraday trades, all four brokers land within a rupee of each other. Zero brokerage on delivery isn’t actually zero cost, STT and DP charges alone put Zerodha at roughly ₹238 on a flat ₹1 lakh round trip, and the other three cluster ₹50 higher mainly on DP fees. If you’re picking a broker for intraday trading, per-trade cost genuinely won’t differentiate them, AMC and platform quality will. If you’re a delivery investor, DP charges and AMC matter more than the headline “zero brokerage” claim.
Options costs aren’t included here because STT on options depends heavily on lot size and premium value, which varies trade to trade. Use the broker’s own calculator for an options-specific estimate rather than a generic one.
Does Choosing a Bangalore-Based Broker Matter?
- When local presence can help: walking into a physical office for account issues, in-person KYC assistance, and (for Tradejini and Alice Blue specifically) a local relationship manager.
- When it usually doesn’t matter: online account opening, mobile app performance, digital customer support, brokerage pricing, and platform execution speed, none of these change based on where the broker’s registered office sits.
A Bengaluru headquarters is a location characteristic, not a guarantee of lower charges or better service. Treat it as a tie-breaker between two otherwise similar brokers, not a deciding factor on its own.
Which Type of Bangalore Investor Are You?
- I invest once or twice a month, buy and hold → Compare AMC and DP charges above brokerage, you’ll pay these every year regardless of how often you trade.
- I trade intraday frequently → Compare per-order flat pricing and platform speed. Per our own numbers above, most discount brokers cost about the same per trade. Understanding technical indicators for trading can also be useful when evaluating the tools and charting capabilities offered by different brokers.
- I trade options → Compare options brokerage and execution speed specifically, general delivery/intraday comparisons don’t tell you much here.
- I want human assistance and research → Compare the full-service brokers’ plan pricing (ICICI Direct’s Prime tiers, Motilal Oswal’s research desk) rather than the discount brokers above.
- I want a physical office in Bangalore I can walk into → Tradejini and Alice Blue are the clearest fits among the Bengaluru-headquartered names. For learners who prefer a more structured learning path, stock market certification Bangalore is another relevant option.
Discount vs Full-Service Stock Market Brokers in Bangalore
Discount brokers (Zerodha, Groww, FYERS, Alice Blue, Tradejini, Upstox, Angel One) generally suit self-directed investors comfortable making their own calls, at lower per-trade cost.
Full-service brokers (ICICI Direct, HDFC Securities, Motilal Oswal, Sharekhan) bundle in research and advisory support, at a pricing structure worth comparing carefully if you trade often, percentage-based fees scale with every trade in a way flat ₹20 pricing doesn’t.
Expert Insight (Rohit Sen, Stock Market Mentor)
Stock Market Mentor runs its trading courses out of Jayanagar, Bengaluru, and the one thing the SMM trading desk keeps repeating to students opening their first account: a broker’s advertised brokerage rate is the smallest lever in your actual trading cost. STT is fixed by the government regardless of the broker. DP charges apply every time you sell delivery shares. AMC applies whether you trade or not.
Students who pick a broker purely on the “₹0 brokerage” headline, and never check AMC or DP charges, are often surprised at year-end statements. The framework SMM teaches is simple: total annual cost, not headline brokerage, is what should drive the decision, which is exactly what our ₹1 lakh working above tries to make visible. If you want to build your understanding before making these decisions, online courses on stock market in Bangalore can provide a structured learning option.
How to Verify a Stock Broker Before Opening an Account?
Every broker named here should be a SEBI registered broker. Don’t take anybody’s for it, including this article. Check the registration number directly on SEBI’s own recognised intermediaries directory. Also confirm NSE/BSE membership on the NSE or BSE sites, and check depository participant details with CDSL or NSDL. It takes two minutes and rules out anything that isn’t legitimate.
The ₹1 Lakh Question You Should Ask Every Broker
Don’t ask “what’s your brokerage?” Every broker has a good answer to that one, it’s designed to sound low.
Ask this instead: “If I invest ₹1 lakh and hold it for a year, what will I actually pay you?”
Then make them answer six things, not one:
- Delivery brokerage
- DP charge when you sell
- AMC
- Account-related charges
- Other transaction charges
- Any platform, data or subscription fee
A broker who answers all six clearly, without dodging, is telling you something. One who only wants to talk about brokerage is telling you something too. Screenshot this list. Ask it before you deposit a rupee, not after.
The 5-Point Broker Fit Framework: Start, Trade, Track, Resolve, Leave
Stop asking “which broker is best?” Ask this instead: can I get through all five stages without a headache?
Stage | Question to ask |
Start | Can I get set up without confusion? |
Trade | Can I use it comfortably, not just admire its feature list? |
Track | Can I actually find and understand my charges and statements? |
Resolve | Can I get help when something breaks? |
Leave | Can I move my holdings if I change my mind? |
Resolve and Leave are where brokers quietly differ. A broker is a relationship that starts at account opening and ends when you close or transfer it, not just a place you tap “buy.”
Common Mistakes When Choosing a Stock Brokerage Firm in Bangalore
- Picking a broker on brokerage alone, ignoring AMC and DP charges, our ₹1 lakh table above shows why this matters.
- Assuming a Bangalore office automatically means better service.
- Comparing a promotional rate against another broker’s standard rate.
- Skipping the SEBI registration check.
- Based on an old comparison article rather than the live tariff of the broker. The rates are updated unexpectedly often, as shown by the revision of Angel One in November 2025.
Stock Brokerage Firms in Bangalore: Choose Based on Your Needs
There’s no point choosing a broker just because the brokerage looks cheap. When comparing stock brokerage firms in Bangalore, check what you’ll actually pay, including AMC, DP charges and other transaction costs. Also look at the platform, support and whether you need a physical office. A Bangalore address alone doesn’t make a broker better. Take a little time to check the current charges and SEBI registration before opening your account.
And if you’re still getting comfortable with trading, Stock Market Mentor, based in Bangalore, is one of the local places where you can learn more about the market before putting your money in.
